How to Store Cannabis So It Stays Fresh in Montana’s Dry Air
Montana’s dry air and temperature swings kill good flower fast. Simple storage that protects aroma, potency, and smoothness.

Cannabis 101

Montana’s dry air and big temperature swings can ruin good flower faster than people expect. A little care keeps the aroma, potency, and smoothness intact, especially if you picked up something that was grown and cured with real attention.
What degrades cannabis
Four things: light (especially UV), heat, too much oxygen, and the wrong humidity. A commonly recommended setup is cool (under about 70°F), dark, airtight, and around 59 to 63% relative humidity. Keep it locked and out of reach of children and pets.
The simple method that works
A glass mason jar with a good seal is the most reliable option. Drop in a humidity pack (Boveda or Integra) to hold the right moisture automatically, and keep the jar in a cabinet or drawer, not on a windowsill or in a hot car.
What to avoid
Plastic bags for more than a day or two (they pull trichomes off), the freezer (trichomes get brittle), the fridge (humidity swings), and tobacco humidors (cedar oils transfer flavor).
How long it lasts
Stored well, flower can stay close to its best for several months, then aroma and potency slowly decline. Pre-rolls do best in airtight tubes; concentrates in small airtight glass or silicone, kept cool and dark.
